Off-Tangent

Hi all,

June and July generally quiet months of the year... great for planning and soul searching and lots of talking to people for various things. Busy months are great for bank account but bad for everything else. Quiet months are on the opposite, bad for bank account but great for long term planning.

Many things are needed to be shaped and mold so it represent finer things in life.

Recently, I have been back doing some interior work which I left more than 2.5 years ago concentrating on portraiture and specialising in newborn photography. Seems to be irony to me that I left flash photography and now come back and do a lot of "Flash" stuff. It is really enjoyable but I am looking for ways to shoot, natural light only even with interior work. Of course, it represent some challenges... its not going to be the end of the world. With this, it should trigger me to work harder on my photoshop skills which in terms give me a benefit of new and profound sets of skills.

Pretty much re-invent the whole set of workflow again.

"Rusty" is the word when come to interior work as it took me a while to get a workflow together and how I am going to approach each shoot.

The best part of shooting interior lies in the people whom I met during the shoot. It is amazing that how people are connected and one people seems to know the other and it is kinda scary to see picture that you create for another client pops up in someone else home.

We know that our clients are the life-line of our business and we are doing all we can to satisfy the needs of our client. However, as human, nothing that we do is perfect. It seems that there are many things that we need to continue to improve.

On the other hand, while visiting our client's home, you do see some of the work by our peer (competitor if you want to call it, but I always consider every photographer as a peer) and gain lots of insight on why the client now have decided to find someone else.

It is a constant reminder that business is not like the old days (I am not that old... but getting there), you will have to be always on the top of your game and always changing the work to compete with the fierce competition out there. Client loyalty is a rarity nowadays so there are a lot more work to be done.

Quiet months are generally great for family time and it is nice to see some of our clients whenever we go, perhaps families often go around the same place?

Anyway.... think that sums up my week....

Regards,

Hart
